In Cyprus, barely a week passes by without a festivity of some kind! Easter is the most important event in the Greek Orthodox religious calendar, and is widely celebrated across the island; with lively parades surging through the streets. Vibrant flower festivals dating back to ancient Greek times shower towns and villages with colour in the springtime. There are also numerous 'name days' where homage to a saint is paid, and of course aptly celebrated. Carnival festivities take place in all towns in March, with fantastic parades, music, and dancing enlivening the island. Pafos Aphrodite Festival is an annual open-air event that takes place at the Medieval Castle of Pafos. Internationally renowned performers and producers present these Operas.
